About CTL

“Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: yet I tell you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these”.

Named after the biblical reference, Consider the Lilies is the South Shore’s premier flower shop.

The staff at Consider the Lilies begins with the freshest flowers available from around the world including California, Canada, Holland, Ecuador, and Colombia, then applies cutting edge design techniques to “bring the outside inside” in the most elegant way. From the graceful arc of a single stem to an extravagant dressing for an entire event, our arrangements strive for a delicate balance between art and nature to create moments of breathtaking beauty for every season and milestone in life.

Sarah Beattie

As a little girl, Sarah gained an appreciation for gardening and flower arranging by watching her mother and grandmother at work. She opened her first retail shop, Consider the Lilies, in February 2012 in Duxbury, trading in her home business of two years and drawing on her lifelong love of flower arranging. Sarah is a graduate and continuing student at FlowerSchool NY in Manhattan, learning from master designers worldwide. She loves to bring cutting edge design techniques to the shop and the South Shore.

Favorite flower: “It’s a toss-up between David Austin garden roses and dahlias. Both are fleeting which makes them special, and the rose is intoxicatingly fragrant.”

Arlene Hansen

Arlene has been with CTL the longest and grew up in a family that loved to garden. It was a natural progression for her to work on a farm growing flowers for sixteen years before she started working at Consider the Lilies. She can’t remember a time in her life that she had not been growing and loving flowers. Arlene can be seen operating in all areas of CTL. Her wedding installations are breathtaking!

Favorite Flower: “Zinnia! They are super easy to grow and add a classic beautiful look to any garden.”

Sue NEWMAN

Sue quickly came on board and along with deliveries, you can find her nourishing the planters at our corporate client locations. Sue always has a “treat” in her pocket for some lucky canine on her route. We love seeing her sunshine smile almost daily!

Sue’s favorite flower: “Gerber daisy. I love the variety of colors and their cheerful appeal. A reminder of sweet summer days.”
